Congratulations to Pauline Spraker, who was the recipient of the "Volunteer of the Year" award at the Iowa State Youth Bowling Convention held in Des Moines June 20-22.
We have word that Kara Douglas is currently sitting in 11th place in Singles and 13th place in All Events in Division 4 of the USBC Women's Championships that are in Detroit. There is one weekend to go. Great job Kara.
More about the Women's State Tournament and Youth State Tournament results can be found at the Bowler's In the News page. Once again, Mt. Pleasant was successful in tournaments at the State level.
The Annual Mt. Pleasant USBC Association, Inc. Spring Meeting was Sunday May 18 in Alley Lounge. To read the minutes from the meeting, please go to the Meeting Actions page. Lillian Bloom had a surprise party during Squaw league back in March. Pictures from that event are at the Lillian Bloom's Surprise Birthday Party page.
A supervisor for the Association "Registered Volunteer Program" has been selected. Cindy Ruth will be fulfilling those duties, and more will be posted on the website later about this exciting new program within the Mt. Pleasant USBC Association. If you want to learn more about the "RVP" please visit this USBC Link.
The Iowa State USBC Open Tournament held in Council Bluffs is done. PSSI ended up third, and Shottenkirk was twenty-first in the Booster Team. Aaron Dilks & Laurie Gotsch were seventeenth in Booster Doubles, Dilks and Harry Wykert are in the top thirteen of Booster All-Events. The Office of the Webmaster is going to become a salaried position within the Mt. Pleasant USBC Association in the 2008-2009 season. The original goal was to have applications ready and be able to hire a webmaster by August 1. However, that date will probably be pushed back a couple of months so that the Association membership actually knows about the opportunity to apply for the position. The yearly stipend is $250.00. You need to have a decent computer in your home, 2 Gigs of ram would be useful and some kind of broadband or DSL internet connection is definitely suggested. The software is purchased and provided by the Association. An interested individual will want to have some kind of a back round in the administrative side of bowling, a working knowledge of word processing, tables, and a ability to cut and paste as much as possible. Anyone will be able to apply for the position,
however I would think that a Association member would be preferred. The hours spent per week depends on the individual doing the website. There is much historical data that needs to be entered, along with editing of previously collected materials. But other then that, the infra structure is in place. We will let you know when applications become available at the bowling alley and here on the website.
