Eric started bowling in 1979 at the age of 5 in a youth summer league.  After a 4-year hiatus, in 1983 at the age of 9, Eric started bowling in junior leagues at Center Lanes.  His first season average was 101. He won the league sportsmanship award and finished first in the county tournament doubles.  By 1992 his junior league accomplishments included county tournament championships in team, doubles, singles, and (6) all-events.  Eric won (7) league sportsmanship awards.  In the Iowa Games 18 and under scratch division, he won (1) gold and (2) silver medals.  He placed 5th in the annual IBPA State Junior Scratch tournament in 1990, a 6th place finish in State YABA singles, competed in (2) IBPA High School State Tournaments, (5) Lee Troen awards for high scratch series, and a high average of 213 at 18 years of age.
Eric rolled his first sanctioned 700 series on April 20, 1991.  On May 22, 1991 he rolled the first sanctioned 800 series in Jasper County at T&M Center Lanes with a 801 (still as a YABA bowler).  His first 300 game was rolled while pre-bowling for junior leagues on Nov. 7, 1990.  He also had a 300 game in P.E. class on Dec. 11, 1991.

Eric has been instrumental with organizing sponsorships with County Tournament, Scholarship Program, Organizing side tournaments like the T&M Farewell tournament and Jasper Conuty OPEN, and nominating bowlers for Hall of Fame.  Currently serving as webmaster and vice president.  Junior league coach from 1991-1994.  Assistant coach for Newton High School Bowling in 2005-2006.
